BECOME A TRUSTEE
Brilliant cause, proud Midlands roots, and the power of football to change lives. If that speaks to you, read on.
The Cyrille Regis Legacy Trust exists to turn potential into progress for young people who may not have been given the best start. Founded in 2019 to carry forward the values of Cyrille Regis MBE, we utilise mentoring and the unique convening power of football to build confidence, skills, and opportunity. Our flagship programme, Strike a Change, unites all six West Midlands club foundations, and our new Play Her Way initiative is doing the same for girls with support from the Premier League. The work is practical and personal. As Cyrille himself said, giving back delivers outstanding work for those at a disadvantage.
We are now strengthening our Board to increase our impact and develop a sustainable fundraising model. We are looking for up to three new Trustees with expertise in one or more of the following areas: growing a charity or mission-driven organisation; securing grants and philanthropic income; and strategic financial leadership. You will join a collegiate Board that values governance and impact equally, helping us turn a good story into a great strategy.
What the role involves
As a Trustee, you will champion Cyrille’s legacy within your everyday networks, help us open doors across sport, business, and community, and provide constructive challenge to our plans. Expect four Board meetings annually, with light involvement between meetings on a committee or project by agreement, and attendance at at least one CRLT event. We maintain a friendly, professional culture that balances accountability with common sense. Meetings are typically held in the West Midlands with hybrid options available. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
Who we are looking for
We are eager to hear from individuals familiar with the region who share our belief in football as a force for good. You might be a charity leader, a grant-maker, a finance professional, a former player, a club foundation lead, or a senior figure in business, education, or media. Resonate’s lived experience is warmly welcomed. An understanding of good governance and safeguarding is essential, and our beneficiaries will support new trustees through comprehensive induction and mentoring.
The legal bits made simple
This is a voluntary position. You must meet the eligibility criteria to serve as a charity trustee under Charity Commission regulations, be willing to complete safeguarding training, and, if necessary, undergo a DBS check. The terms are for three years, renewable by mutual agreement.
How to apply
Please send your CV and a covering letter explaining why you are right for the role to info@cyrilleregis.com. Tell us which of the three skill areas you bring to the table, an example of impact you have delivered, and what excites you about CRLT’s mission. You can explore our programmes here: https://www.cyrilleregis.com/work/
Closing date for submission of applications, 5pm on Monday 27th October 2025. In person interviews are scheduled for Wednesday 12th November 2025.
